Contemporary Sculpture

scultura moderna

Since 1957 the Council of Carrara has acquired numerous sculptures, many of which were first displayed in the city's International Biennal Sculpture Exhibitions.

The collection, though small, represents different tendencies in post-war sculpture and the materials and techniques frequently used. Thus, a part from marble, which represents the main material used in sculpture, one can find bronzes, tins, and plasters (which is used both in the scupltures themselves as well as to cast bronze statues). Here it is possible to admire, amongst others, works by Agenore Fabbri, Lynn Chadwick, Kenneth Armitage, Marcello Mascherini, Alberto Viani, Giuliano Vangi, Mirko Basaldella, Oscar Gallo, Luciano Minguzzi, Augusto Perez, Tadeusz Koper, Carlo Sergio Signori. Large scale works are on display in the Museum garden.
